Peter Weir

Peter brings over 30 years’ commercial experience across New Zealand and British Columbia, with a strong focus on the environmental sector.

He is currently Principal Environmental Advisor at softwood plantation company Ernslaw One and previously served as President of the New Zealand Forest Owners Association. Peter has more than 12 years’ governance experience, including service on the Association’s Executive Council. 

What motivated you to be involved with the Rātā Foundation Board?

Rātā is a well-run organisation that does a lot of community good. I’m motivated by the opportunity to use my skills and experience to support the organisation at a governance level. This role is about giving back.

What are you most passionate about supporting in the community?

With a background in forestry and environmental law, including carbon and climate change policy, I am very interested in the environment. I also have experience in supporting the rural sector.
