Age Concern visits brings friendships and joy

Age Concern Nelson Tasman is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation, dedicated to improving the quality of life and wellbeing of older people across the Nelson region. They offer advice, support, information and advocacy on a range of issues and encourage positive ageing for people of all ages.

Elder abuse and neglect is a real issue across Nelson Tasman, and their work in this area is to educate on its existence, as well as support and advocate for older people suffering abuse.

They run a number of workshops throughout the year on topics such as Healthy Eating, Capturing your Life Story and Staying Safe driving. They also put on seminars for health professionals and at the Positive Ageing Expo.

This video focuses on their much-needed and valued accredited visitor service which links isolated and lonely older people with a volunteer visitor. They currently have over 80 volunteers giving their time to befriend and support someone.
