Wānanga series: Ōritetanga: Leading for Equity in Aotearoa communities
This two wānanga series is a Waitaha CLD Network, Inspiring Communities and Leadership Lab Rourou initiative.
This series is for people who work in and support community-led development and who are on a journey of understanding about Te Tiriti-based equity in Aotearoa.
Together, we will acknowledge the history of the land we are on and learn about the evolution of community development in Aotearoa through the lens of ōritetanga. We will explore our identities in a different light and practice relational skills to enable loving, respectful and courageous approaches in our communities towards a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.
We will focus on;
- Learning and connecting with others who work in community-led development
- Exploring the origins, evolution and Te Tiriti-based future of community-led development in Aotearoa
- Journeying towards the knowledge and skills to be able to give effect to the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Creating open spaces for dialogue that allow for safe and courageous conversations
- Addressing bias and racism
- Practicing relationship skills and response-abilities (listening, recognising and responding)
- Growing confidence and competence in leading in a culturally sustaining way when working alongside communities.
