What motivated you to be involved with the Rātā Foundation Board?

Being able to help in the distribution of funds to worthy causes. I have been able to see the positive effects Rātā Foundation’s grants have had on the Nelson community, and I feel privileged to now be a part of creating positive, inter-generational change in the community.

What are you most passionate about supporting in the community?

Environmental projects and self-help projects. I am passionate about protecting and enhancing our environment for future generations to enjoy, and I am a strong believer in encouraging communities to be self-led and sustainable.

What, to you, is one of Rātā Foundation’s greatest achievements or projects?

It is great to see our funding enable community-led projects that are undertaking actions which directly benefit the natural environment and are focusing on identified environmental priorities, like the work being done by the Tasman Environmental Trust or local groups like Project De-Vine in Golden Bay.  The huge amount of volunteer hours which goes towards helping preserve our native bush and wildlife for future generations keeps me inspired for the future.
