Meaningful collaborations strengthen the community sector
We have recently reviewed our multi-year funding programme. The evaluation tells the story of the many organisations we partner with and their ability to continuously adapt and respond to the diverse needs of their communities.
We are fortunate to have long term relationships with many organisations who are in communities every day working to enable equitable outcomes.
At Rātā Foundation, we aim to strengthen the community organisations we walk alongside. When we think about how to achieve equitable outcomes through our Strengthening the Sector programme, we aim to provide tailored support that caters to the needs of diverse groups within our communities.
Last year we supported Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce and NBS to deliver the Strong Community Symposium in Stoke. This locally-led programme included practical business advice and insights, designed to empower not-for-profits.
In 2024, several meaningful collaborations are underway to strengthen the community sector.
The Accentuated leadership programme begins in Canterbury this month, supporting women from ethnically diverse backgrounds to understand how their unique cultural backgrounds add value to leadership roles, and grow their skills and confidence. Rātā is subsidising eight places on the programme for emerging female community leaders.
In Te Tau Ihu o te Waka-a-Māui over the coming months, Tū Māia will deliver their two-day Tū Ake workshop, to strengthen the capability of kaupapa Māori organisations in the region. This workshop builds on the success of last year’s wānanga in Christchurch.
As part of our focus on strengthening community organisations to achieve positive environmental outcomes, we are partnering with Terra Nova Foundation in a new programme designed to support organisations to reduce their carbon emissions and improve their resilience to climate related impacts.
The programme aims to build knowledge and confidence to reduce emissions in a supportive environment. Participants will attend a workshop, have access to individualised expert support developing and implementing a plan to reduce emissions and measuring and communicating impact, and can take part in an online community as part of their climate action journey. This programme will run over two years, with opportunities for 16 cohorts of organisations to participate. Workshops will be running throughout 2024.
We look forward to sharing more about this programme soon.
