Bishopdale Community Preschool

This Community Preschool was forced to leave its building after a Detailed Engineering Evaluation commissioned by the Christchurch City Council indicated that the building needed to be closed. The Preschool quickly identified an alternative location, at Breens Intermediate utilising a spare classroom. Since then the Preschool has reached an understanding with the Ministry of Education and Breens Intermediate to build itself a new centre at the school.

The Preschool offers local families accessible care and education, and its nurturing routine provides an anchor for the attending children. Breens Intermediate supports the relationship, because it adds an extra dimension to the school and opens up learning opportunities.

Rātā Foundation was happy to help this well run and well loved Community Preschool to restart in a new space, through the provision of a Community Loan.
