Community Law Canterbury

undefined

Community Law Canterbury (CLC) works to reduce and remove barriers to access to the law by providing free legal advice, information, education and services. Their Voluntary Sector Support service is well utilised by NFP groups in the region.

The building housing Community Law Canterbury was condemned after the earthquakes, and, like many organisations, it was transient for some time. It has now re-established itself in the central city, and bought a building in Montreal Street. This building will be able to offer seminar space for community groups, as well as opportunities for ‘hot desking’.

Rātā Foundation is supporting CLC with this by providing a Community Loan, at a lower interest rate than the market offers. The Community Loan approach means that we are able to support the applicant group, but effectively recycle that support for other groups applying in the future.
