New law for incorporated societies - workshops

Training

This workshop is one of a series that Community Law Canterbury is running about the new law. This workshop will be helpful to your group if you would like to know more about the new rules, including what your group will need to do, how you can do it and when you will need to do it by. The workshop will also cover other legal issues that will be relevant when running your incorporated society. These workshops are open to managers and volunteer Board/Committee members of local incorporated societies.

Community Law Canterbury

If you’d like to read more about new law, the Registrar’s staff have provided some helpful guidance here

Not sure if the new law applies to your group?

The new law applies only to incorporated societies.  It does not apply to incorporated charitable trusts or to incorporated society trusts.  If you’d like to check whether your group is affected, look for your group’s name on this online register.  If your group’s name is there, and the group’s status is ‘registered’, then the new law will apply to your organisation.

Keen to attend but this date doesn’t suit you?

Just email communityeducation@canlaw.org.nz and tell Community Law Canterbury that you’d like to know more.  This workshop will be repeated several times over the coming months so they can let you know about other dates when this workshop will be available.

How to book

If you are interested in attending this workshop or would like to know more about it, please send an email to communityeducation@canlaw.org.nz One of the team at Community Law Canterbury will then follow up with you to make a booking.
