Accounting is essential for any business – profit or not-for-profits. But not-for-profits have much higher accountability and reporting requirements, and are a lot more dependent on professional accounting services. Services that are prohibitively expensive and can be a large financial drain especially on smaller organisations.

Cost: $30 (optional). Invoices are sent after the workshop, but payment is optional.
Many community groups try to sidestep managing tax obligations by employing people as contractors. This is not always legal, and deprives them of the protection of employment legislation.
While administration of taxes and other deductions through wages and salaries is relatively easy, entitlements such as annual or sick leave can get quite complex. Getting it wrong can also get expensive.
This workshop aims to explain the basics of payroll and employer obligations, and some of the most common mistakes to avoid.
